The topic of this revision session is: ‘The significance of educational policies, including policies of selection, marketisation and privatisation, and policies to achieve greater equality of opportunity or outcome, for an understanding of the structure, role, impact and experience of and access to education; the impact of globalisation on educational policy’.

This download contains one of a series of revision sessions that use a variety of mind-mapping, discussion and debate tasks to cover a section of the specification. It includes a fully animated revision session PowerPoint and a set of ‘silent debate’ A3 worksheets [which are a great way to structure group discussions and practice exam planning technique].
This revision session features:
-A ‘grid of learning’ post-it task (to focus students on the day’s topic and refresh their memories of the basics)
-A 'competitive mind-mapping task (which can be completed on the whiteboard or on A3 paper)
-A silent debate task (with 6 x A3 silent debate worksheets in an editable .doc file) [nb. allowing group conversation, instead of silence, is also an effective approach]
-Debates that ask students to move from one side of the room or the other and verbalise a defence of their position in response to a statement or rubric.
-A concluding ‘One thing I am still uncertain about…’ post-it question.

This bundle is for a collection of ‘Philosophy Boxes’ lessons/sessions.
Each session comprises a P4C lesson/session that can be used 2-3 times with the same group.
This contains the complete 20 sessions bundle designed for Primary School Teachers. It is tantamount to a complete cross-curricular P4C course and will be useful for countless hours of teaching across every subject. Many of the sessions are also great for tutor/form time.
The Philosophy Boxes Method is a new approach to P4C designed for students in KS1, 2 & 3: it is graphically stimulating, engaging, and fun. This download is also suitable for older students: but the format was designed with younger students in mind.
The aim of Philosophy Boxes is to bring philosophy and critical thinking into every subject at every level: we believe that any subject becomes philosophy when students are asked the right questions and when they think about a topic hard enough and on the deepest (most fundamental) level.
The Philosophy Boxes Method presents students with a set of ‘mystery boxes’, when a student selects one of the boxes they are presented with 1 of 21 discussion/debate activities [that use 1 of 8 different formats].
The presentation has integrated AfL so that teachers can test knowledge at any point in the lesson. There are 10 different AfL slides to choose from.
The design is colourful, animated, fun and engaging: all activities require movement and teachers can decide whether students are expressing their ideas purely verbally or by using post-it notes.
The nature of the design is that it can be used for short sessions (5-10 minutes) or much longer sessions (up to 2 hours!) - it allows for classroom practitioners to be flexible and adaptable. It can, therefore, be used in lessons or as a tutor-time activity.

A Personal Learning Checklist [and DIRT worksheet] for A2-Level Religious Studies (new specification).
Based on the OCR specification, for the Christian (Developments in Christian Thought) section of the course
Allows for a complete review of learning for the Christian Philosophy section of the A2-Level course. It covers the ‘Development’, ‘Society’ and ‘Challenges’ sections of the course.
The first side is a PLC with two ways for the student to rate confidence and the second side features a key-word check as well as various DIRT tasks.
This double-sided A4 worksheet is great for:
-Revision lessons
-AfL
-Fostering teacher-student dialogue
-Directed Individual Reflection Time (DIRT)
-Exam preparation
-Checking key-word knowledge (literacy)

This PPT file contains 100 debates and discussion relevant to the study of mathematics and, especially, ‘The Philosophy of Mathematics’ (allowing teachers to bring P4C [philosophy for children] into the Maths classroom). The presentation is complete with exciting animated graphics to foster engagement!
The file contains a randomiser slide, allowing a random debate topic to be generated.
Each debate slide asks students to move from one side of the room or the other to make their position clear: teachers should then use questioning to foster a debate between students, encouraging them to present reasons for their choice and defend their position.

This download contains ten lesson wrappers: suitable for teachers of all subjects and appropriate for students aged 11-18.
Lesson wrappers encourage metacognitive reflection at the very start and very end of lessons: they help students to monitor and regulate their learning and enhance metacognitive awareness.
By downloading this complete set you can cycle between lesson wrappers and give students a variety of metacognitive reflection tasks. This resource saves a great deal of planning time and is a simple way to enhance your teaching practice with the latest metacognitive strategies.
Simply print out one of these ten, double-sided, colour worksheets for your students: they should complete one side at the start of the lesson and one at the end. Each side should take no more than five minutes to complete - they look great!
